Today, we launched our latest tool in the fight against hunger: a new, mobile responvise website!
You may wonder how a website can fight hunger. In reviewing analytic information from our old site, the most frequented pages were our food pantry map, and our food resources page. It was clear that it was being used most by those in need of food. Therefore, throughout the development process, we wanted the new site to be an easy-to-use tool for those who face hunger. You will notice at the top of the homepage is our SNAP Hotline number, which when viewed on a mobile device, can be tapped and a call will be connected immediately to our office. From there, we can help people apply for SNAP benefits or connect them to a food pantry.
In addition, there is now a search bar prominently featured on the homepage that allows the user to find their nearest food pantry. Once an address or zip code is entered, the map will sort the results to show the nearest emergency food provider to their search. The search can also be filtered by day of the week to help people get the food they need quickly. Each emergency food provider on the map has updated contact information as well, which allows a user to reach out to them directly.
Of course, the site also serves as an informational tool to learn about our organization and hunger in our region. Keep up-to-date on our work by visiting the Hunger Fighter Blog, and currently on the site, there is a growing list of pantries in need of volunteers to serve a holiday meal.
We are excited to share this new site with you, so please spend some time here and let us know what you think!
