As the holiday season approaches, Thomas'® brand, ACME Markets and Giant Food Stores have pledged a portion of sales of Thomas' English Muffins, Bagels and Swirl bread products to help thousands of families put food on the table in the Philadelphia region through the Thomas' Nourishing Neighbors campaign.
Ten cents from each Thomas' product sold during the campaign, up to a maximum total of $75,000, will go directly to the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger. The campaign, a unique partnership between two grocery retailers, will run in local ACME Markets from Sept. 23 to Oct. 27 and in GIANT from Oct. 7 to Nov. 3.
"Each year the Nourishing Neighbors campaign enables us to boost our hunger-fighting work at a crucial time heading into the holiday season," said Executive Director Laura Wall. "There is still a tremendous need in our area and we are extremely grateful to Thomas', ACME Markets and GIANT for their demonstrated commitment to ending hunger.
Earlier this month, the most recent poverty data was released and showed that 25.8 percent of Philadelphians live below the poverty line. This campaign will have a powerful impact for those in the region who live in poverty and face food insecurity.
"We are honored to support the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger and the important work they do to end hunger in Philadelphia," said Jon Silvon, senior marketing director of Thomas' products. "Our products have been a breakfast staple in homes for more than 100 years, but we know access to a meal isn't easy for everyone. We hope by partnering with ACME Markets and GIANT, we can do our part to support our friends and neighbors in need."
